A majority of the projects that Sublyme Records does involves "burning" CDs on
our high-speed duplicator. When a disc is created in this fashion, there are many ways
to get your information displayed on the disc. The two most common are "peel-and-stick" labels and
on-disc printing. Of the two, labels are less expensive and quicker. However, this is where the
advantages end.
Labels can, when heated by the laser in your CD player, peel off of the disc and get jammed in your
CD player. Also, the mass of the disc is altered, which can cause many consumer-level disc players to
malfunction or break all-together. As well, many car manufacturers are including multi-disc players in
their new cars. These highly sophisticated players require the disc to be a maximum thickness or a jam may occur.
Labels make discs too thick for many of these players to accept.
On disc printing allows us to print in full color on the disc surface without affecting either the thickness of the disc
or the mass of the disc. The inks involved in printing directly on the disc are not affected by
the heat generated by a CD player laser. Overall, on-disc printing looks cleaner and better and is better for your
player.
Sublyme Records only uses on-disc printing in all of its "in-house" projects. When shopping around,
insist on On-Disc Printing!
